Typo alert!!! I meant 5.0 will is scheduled for November 20. I don't
know how I managed to type 5.2. :-(

Stable will transition to the 5.0 kernel in the near future. If you
run stable, you should have the choice of staying with RELENG_4 or
going to RELENG_5. 

The head (CURRENT) will open to lots of new stuff that will grow, in a
couple of years or so, into V6.0. Most work will go into RELENG_5,
which will be STABLE and there will be at least one and maybe a couple
of releases in the V4 train, but not much will happen there.

If you want to transition to V5 when it becomes "STABLE", subscribe to
freebsd-stable. All relevant announcements SHOULD be made there.
