Turning off the Vaio backlight?

I hear that there might not be a way to do this, but I thought that I
would ask anyway..

One thing I've noticed on my system (FreeBSD 4.5 w/XFree86 4.1.0 on a
Sony Vaio PCG-505TX), is that even when the screen blanks, the backlight
is still on.

Is there a way to have the backlight turn off as well?
