Touchpad scroll

I want to make the touchpad in my notebook emulate the wheel scroll 
using the left border of the touchpad (like its done in Windows using 
the driver).
What I need to know is what should I start poking at to make this work. 
My initial guess is  /usr/src/usr.sbin/moused/moused.c . Is this correct 
or is there more to it?
