Re: Error message in an Acer TravelMate 620 Series

I'm not up on my hardware, but I do know that 32 bit cardbus is
not supported in the 4.x code base (but is in the 5.x code base.)

My own exprerience with XFree86 4.2.1 core-dumping was with an Intel
82810 (i810? GMCH) AGP controller that was part of the motherboard
of a Hewlett Packard Pavillion 6635.

Over the holidays, I decided to "upgrade" the family desktop (err... deskunder)
PC to be dual-boot Win98SE/FreeBSD. I discovered that even the most
recently patched XFree86 4.2.1 in /usr/ports wouldn't work, and would core-dump.

My only solution was to update XFree86 from *their* CVS repository
(I'm keeping a copy myself) to 4.2.99 (which is their pre-release for
4.3, I think.)  I just followed the instructions, and it works
pretty well. Unfortunately, I can't build Mozilla 1.2b on this machine
now, and haven't had time to check it out. (Konqueror and Galeon suffice
for the present.)
