Jesse,

One other thing I thought of... it's possible that something else
already has that pty open (telnetd, sshd, screen, typescript something
of that sort).  Try something like this:

# cd /dev; ./MAKEDEV pty1
# irs -c -y /dev/ptyqv -d /dev/cuaa1
# ln -s /dev/ttyqv /dev/pilot
