As far as I understood it, the Fn key combinations cannot be remapped,
and are handled directly by the hardware. And, they are absolutely
laptop-specific (ie. my combinations will most likely not work for you).

I've also seen laptops which have other means of regulating the LCD
(dials, real buttons, etc)
