Far as I can tell, the UltraBay 2000 is too smart for its own good; it wants to be able to notify the OS that a device has been inserted or removed, and the BIOS complains (that beeping; also, it doesn't really approve of removing a device) if the OS hasn't registered an UltraBay 200 handler of some kind.
