Bit of a vauge subject but then this is a bit of a vauge email :D

Ok, ive got me here a nice new Thinkpad R31, it works fine aside from a few quirks, nothing major but enough to warrant a post :)

X Windows
---------

I've had X running on this for a while, i was previously using vesa but for some bizzare reason vesa suddenly stopped working (it's in the kernel so go figure) when I try and run in vesa mode the screen just slowy turns white!
Now, since vesa wents tits up i looked into using the i810/i830 driver with the dri interface and it does work (im running the X4 snap port) but when i close x theres a good say 65% chance it'l look the system up, now i know this is a driver issue and i'll be letting the X people know about it but i wonder if anyone has any insights on this that might be usefull ?

ACPI
----

Acpi on the R31 has some issues, it's fine for most operations but apm options cause a real problem, if i close the lid without disabling acpi apm i can kiss FreeBSD good bye because it wont be comming back without a reboot :(
>From what i've been reading this seems to be down to badly written acpi code and i beleive it's possible to *replace* this code but since i know basicly nothing but acpi programming (and the docs are frankly not helpfull) im wondering if anyone else has had this problem and found a solution (or am i just fubar'ed on this one).

Thanks in advacne for any help you can provide! (hell thanks for taking the time to read this :) )
