At this regional, walk-in store in Southern California, you can get the cards for under $40 each, so $225 total seems pretty high. In my experience the cards come with cables. http://pcclub.com/product_list.cfm?cat=Controller%20Cards&subcat1=Firewire Prices at newegg.com seem to be similar but I don't have a nice summary link for that.
