FreeBSD (current) on Acer Travelmate

I've only found some people asking about problems with installing FreeBSD on an Acer Travelmate 29x (290, 291,...) The problem I have is also described in gnats database: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=kern/64158 is there anyone who has had more success? Or found a workaround somehow? Or, if that fails, is there anyone who can give me advice on how I could help debug this issue?!
