I think the "reset" with power down and up again leads to an unoperable card. In my situation unloading and reloading the driver let the card work. I made some change to the pccard driver code for testing and without the reset everyging was O.K. But with 5.3-STABLE the problem seems to be solved, according to a friend of mine.
