I also do not experience this with 15.1-RELEASE on neither USB or HDA audio
cards. As Thibault above said, please give us more information. What sound =
card
is it? Which driver does it run?

Also, some debugging info (when audio is running). As a start, these would =
be
useful:

1. "sndctl -v"
2. mixer(8)'s output
3. dmesg, after you've set hw.snd.verbose=3D4
