multimedia/avidemux

Deprecation notice mentions "combined with no bugs reports user count appears to be very low". I'm an active avidemux user. This is not everyday usage, but from time to time and not so rare. Well, I haven't sent any bug reports because I've set DISABLE_VULNERABILITIES=YES for this port some time ago, when it was reported vulnerable (bad way, I know), and when avidemux-* was broken with vapoursynth, I've set OPTIONS_FILE_UNSET+=VAPOURSYNTH . I had a hope that upstream will fix this someday.
Well, how can I help to improve this port? Does it need patching? Or maybe I have to try to build something from upstream?
Meanwhile, I have never conted upstream of this port and have no idea what and who is the upstream yet.
