Could you possibly try adding "-N 1" to
the rpc.tlsservd command.
Either with tlsservd_flags="-N 1" in /etc/rc.conf
and/or when you type the command.

I'd like to know if it related to the change in the
way multiple daemon threads are handled after a
glebius@ commit of about 8months ago.
(Before that, the -N created separate processes
with TCP sockets wired to one of them. Now it uses
pthreads.)

If you can do the above and let us know if it still
panics, that could be useful.
