IP address and port display in various utilities

Hello! Various FreeBSD utilities display IPv6 address and ports differently. For sockstat, this was changed recently to use brackets around them. https://cgit.freebsd.org/src/commit/?id=fe81e3944c085e765c83c4f78941d7529ceb556e This wasn't done for netstat, but that uses a dot as separator between address and port - for IPv6 and IPv4. Is there a special reason for the dot in case of IPv4? Is there a general way how FreeBSD handles that? The common way I know is to use brackets for IPv6 addresses in case a port number is specified with the colon separator.
