Last updates from opnsense forum [1] indicates the problem is in the firmware
and best fix is to completely disable ASPM for this device and this would fix
whatever firmware is on the card.

I am really angry at this moment because of these network stops that require
manual network restarts. This is unacceptable when streaming, during online
meetings, etc. I am considering disabling this i226-V crap and just use
different network adapter.

I saw intel released 31.1 drivers update on 2026-03-20 [2]. But again I can see
only firmware update for i225 not i226. Will run the windoze installer and see
if that fixes anything on FreeBSD. If not then Intel goes to trash. I am very
disappointed.
