--- Comment #82 from Tomasz "CeDeROM" CEDRO <[email protected]> ---
Thank you Kevin :-)

The mainboard is new and still under warranty so I don't suspect a defect
unless it was manufacturing defect or bad design. I took this one because it is
one of few that still has some spare PCI-e slots and pretty decent chipset. I
have reported Ethernet issues to the vendor some months ago and they sent this
to HQ for verification but I got no response since then. This mainboard has
thousands of options in BIOS [2] which most of them are set to Auto, I only
choose these which I know about.. maybe this "AI"/"Auto" is the problem because
mobo can change settings on each boot or even runtime no clue.

Ah I saw two days ago new BIOS showed up, will update and maybe that helps
somehow :-)

Another Idea is to maybe search for this I226V on the PCIe and just try another
one to exclude faulty hardware?

By the way there is one difference with IX driver - ifconfig shows "status: no
carrier" when interface is down even if cable is attached, while IGC shows
"status: active" when cable is attached but interface is down.
