www/minio-pgsty: RELEASE.2026-06-18T00-00-00Z
pgsty/minio is maintained by Ruohang Feng from pigsty.io. He has previously
worked at Apple, Alibaba, and Tantan, where he was involved in one of the
earliest petabyte-scale MinIO deployments in China. Since Feng announcing in
February that he will takeover minio into a maintenance phase focused on bug
fixes without adding new features, the project has addressed several CVEs that
directly impact MinIO security, including CVE-2026-42600, CVE-2026-39414,
CVE-2026-34204, CVE-2026-33419, CVE-2026-33322 and more. The project has also
gained adoption from several open-source community projects. For example, the
Grafana Loki Helm Chart now uses pgsty/minio as the default replacement for
MinIO.
Given that some MinIO features currently still have no alternatives (such as
cold and warm tiering), I suggest migrating the www/minio codebase to
pgsty/minio (patch provided). This would allow existing MinIO deployments to
receive stronger security guarantees while other S3-compatible server projects
continue to mature.
