git patch updates port's patch set to tweak the installed shell script

Extend wildcard handling to support defaults for subtrees.
The algorithm is now two phases: planning then execution.
Planning ensures that only the most specific configuration
is applied to a path.

Added dry-run and verbose options for debugging snapshot sets.

Processing of existing snapshot specs unchanged.
