Xorg hangs when run in the background of the terminal it wants to switch to
graphical mode.

Reproduction:
- Warning! Will make your VT unusable and require ssh access or reboot.
- login on any VT (e.g. vt2)
- run Xorg in the background (`X vt2 &`)
- the VT does not switch to graphical mode, Xorg is stuck before switching to
its graphical driver, log ends with "using VT number 2"

This also happens when using a login manager like Ly when configured to use
same VT (default configuration).
