Given the amount of issues people had reported on this list alone with
removable USB and/or optical media, I'd suggest you try netbooting your
iMac instead of messing with fragile DVDs.  This is the first option
recommended by grehan@ in his guide* and that's how I've installed
FreeBSD on all my G4/G5 machines.  HTH,
