There's not a lot we can do about devices that lie to us. There's lots of w=

that can get us into trouble...

This does seem like a useful area to fix, however, regardless. There's I th=
ink
a number of other paths that can cause problems like this and having a
reproducible test case is nice. The code might serve as a good basis for a =
test
harness since I've recently been looking at ways to eliminate many of the
quirks (or to fix what I think are bugs), but without good test cases it ca=
n be
tricky to validate the fixes.
