diskless (or rather, readonly)

I have a 6.1 install on my mini-ITX system.  I'd like to experiment with
readonly root.

Searching for documentation I found 'FreeBSD and Solid State Devices' but it
refers to rc.diskless2 - which I don't seem to have.  I do have an
rc.initdiskless.

Is there any current documentation?
