Yea, the more I look, the more it looks like I failed
to find an explanation for the errno indicating the
example POSIX errno status for the example
en_US.ISO8859-1 value:

"The wide-character string pointed to by ws2 contains wide-character codes
outside the domain of the collating sequence".
