To make this change permanent, I then add the following lines to my ~/.xinitrc file (obviously before starting the window manager, probably nearby potentially existing calls to configure keymap with setxkbmap): device="SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" xinput set-prop "$device" "libinput Tapping Enabled" 1 # for those who like "natural" scrolling: xinput set-prop "$device" "libinput Natural Scrolling Enabled" 1 # etc. You'll need to replace "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" with the correct device name you determined using xinput above ("Cyapa something").
