Thank you very much for confirming!

I hope it is okay for you to use FreeBSD with SC console and without KMS
driver, as it seems to work fine this way.
If this is the case, I think we can consider the issue as kind of "solved"
now...

If you absolutely need vt newcons or drm-kmod, I only can say that both of
these cause a lot of problems for me, too. (just search for "vt newcons" or
"drm-kmod" to see all the issues I had to report recently due to my intensive
testing with many different configurations)

Aside of these "peanuts", FreeBSD is a great system!
I hope you will enjoy FreeBSD too :)
