The "vesa: Ignoring device with a bound kernel driver" message comes from the
x11-drivers/xf86-video-vesa port, the source file vesa.c.  However, the
ChangeLog file (the file literally named ChangeLog in the port work directory
after "make patch") shows no changes since September 2020.  Probably doesn't
help debug the problem, but I thought I'd mention it.  ChangeLog says that the
check for a kernel driver bound to the device was introduced December 8, 2010.
