Yes, unfortunately, we've seen this attitude being exhibited more than once.
:-(

I'm with Ivan here, esp. given that he's one of our long-term desktop users and
the author of patches that make FreeBSD desktop experience smoother, while
support from our staff X11 maintainers is often lacking.  Turning away people
like him would be a big loss to the project.  It is generally bad to dismiss
contributors, let alone threatening them with a ban.

Now that being said, can we (all) please get a little more constructive here? 
I can understand Emmanuel's unrest with having to maintain some ~100-line
patch.  Maybe there's a less intrusive way to not scare users until kcmp(2)
becomes omnipresent?
