The auto-generated index is wrong. It should ignore the OSVERSION as the local
'make index' does. The version including the OSVERSION is only for building
distribution packages with poudreire to generate packages.

The index fetched by 'make fetchindex' is generated by a FreeBSD system
periodically as building the index is very compute and time intensive. I eats
100% of all 12 threads on my system and takes about 15 minutes. On slower,
smaller systems it takes much longer. Someone realized that an index should be
generated periodically on a central system that could be fetched very quickly.
Since I was running on an old, slow system at the time, it was great!

Since the index is "correct" at the time. it works fine. It may be a bit behind
on occasion, but this is not an issue other than the index being a few minutes
behind.

In any case, portmaster will always do the right thing and simply rebuild the
old, correct version.
