https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=291594 --- Comment #10 from Jesús Daniel Colmenares Oviedo <[email protected]> --- (In reply to Tomoaki AOKI from comment #8) I agree with acm@ and baaz that flavorization benefits most people. Using DEFAULT_VERSIONS assumes that everyone has a machine to run poudriere or a machine that can compile xlibre ports. The ports themselves are not very time-consuming, but dependencies that are not necessarily related to xlibre can consume a lot of resources on a low-powered laptop. And from a user's perspective, simply installing xlibre from pkg is easier than installing and configuring poudriere, setting DEFAULT_VERSIONS, installing a web server to distribute it to all machines, etc. While we discuss this, people are using the unofficial repository created by baaz instead of the official one provided by FreeBSD. We are not replacing xorg with xlibre, we are just providing packages for xlibre that work together seamlessly. In fact, I have installed xlibre on my low-powered laptop with evilwm, badwolf, and a few other x11 applications, and it works flawlessly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
