If there are multiple 16.*-RELEASE already and not all of supported ones are
affected (means, main is in the state so-called 17-CURRENT or later), of course
I'd preferred as you mentioned because it's really needed.

But I've intentionally didn't, as users of main are expected to habitally track
its head and no other points are basically supported (sorry, lost track with,
but I've rejected my proposed patch before with the reason, and needed to
modify like I've posted here).
