Preliminaries:
- I understand that neither i386 nor portmaster are supported anymore, however
would appreciate if the issue described here could be fixed.

Scenario:
- FreeBSD stable/15 at f77062f506f7
- Running in a VM under Linux KVM/Qemu with CPU model "qemu32"
- ports latest, with the following local patch to mesa-dri (to enable running
on very old machines):
