Someone wants virgl, someone else does not. That's why it should be an option, and some users (me as an example) just got robbed of it without obvious technical reason (e.g. upstream did not make virgl mandatory, or did they?) And I'm pretty sure about being not the only one who have chosen FreeBSD due to simplicity of customizing, which consistently becomes narrower over time. P.S.: alternative OS, whose Portage/ebuild inspired by FreeBSD ports, has mesa 26.1.3 [0] right now and virgl (among other stuff) is still freely configurable. I believe this should also be possible in ports.
