Bugzilla Automation <[email protected]> has asked freebsd-x11 (Nobody) <[email protected]> for maintainer-feedback: Bug 297908: graphics/mesa-dri: Fallbacks to llvmpipe after v26.0.6 on FreeBSD 14.4 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=297908 --- Description --- Hi, I have recently noticed that I was using llvmpipe instead of AMDGPU. I am using FreeBSD 14.4-RELEASE, currently with drm-515-kmod (was happening on drm-61-kmod too) with gpu-firmware-amd-kmod-renoir. I was switched to 15.1-RELEASE for a short time because of this problem preventing me from updating one of my ports, x11-wm/wayfire since wayland could not launch without the driver but xorg is able to. I am back to version 14 since I wanted to debug this issue and raise a bug report. There's also a freebsd forum thread which I've recently posted: https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/freebsd-14-4-mesa-issue-with-drm-kmod.103356 / I have learnt that versions of graphics/mesa-dri after v26.0.6 causes system to fallback to llvmpipe which most desktop users wouldn't obviously want. Tried recently released v26.2.1, too. Same issue. I want to quote a warning from the forum thread that I don't know much about. "amdgpu: DRM version is 3.49.0, but this driver is only compatible with 3.54.0 (kernel 6.6+) or later." Thanks in advance.
