I'm not sure but I've got similar errors with dirty CD's in freeeBSD. Is your CD-ROM drive in perfect condition if CD is clean? Reading OS from CD has to be done more careful than reading music. As far as I understand the error message is interpreted as reading fails and then it is illegal request to read big in address. So my educated guess is not so good cd which can't be properly read. And failing with RW also supports this option. I have one question too about GMV. Why her? Do you have some kind of special relationship with her? :) There has to be interesting story behind...
