This is correct. X is not supposed to start automatically at boot. If
you want it to, use the freesbie.wm cheatcode, as described in the
release notes.

Try tuning /etc/X11/xorg.conf . Read FreeSBIE 2.0 Release Notes,
there's a section about what to do when your monitor doesn't get
recognized correctly.

Can you check whether /etc/X11/xorg.conf has the correct driver for
your card in the Device section, please?
