Thank you for the response but yes, I have run pkgdb -F several times 
and have not been warned about any missing dependencies. I have also run 
portupgrade -af which should have also taken care of any dependencies. 
Both ran without any errors.

I also added the packages that were throwing errors in .done_pkginstall 
tonight and was able to burn a ISO without any errors. It also found the 
binary for startxfce4 but /pkg_info.txt and /var/db/pkg/ didn't show any 
new packages as being installed so I'm thinking there is something 
messed up with one of the variables that copies the disk image to the 
ISO. I'll maybe have to play around with the MAKEOBJDIRPREFIX variable, 
or other things, to try to fix the LOGFILE variable which will hopefully 
fix whatever else is messed up.
