Sei passato a pkg, suppongo.
Devi configurare correttamente pkg.conf, togliendo la variabile PACKAGESITE e creando in /usr/local/bin/pkg/repos uno/più files di configurazione,
tramite i quali accedi ai packages.
Puoi creare un deposito locale con poudriere, che ha senso se hai molti sistemi da gestire con package configurati in modo non default.
Il più semplice è /usr/local/etc/pkg/repos/FreeBSD.conf :
--- FreeBSD.conf
FreeBSD: { enabled: yes }
--- /FreeBSD.conf
Comunque se usi i ports con portmaster probabilmente basta levare la variabile PACKAGESITE da /usr/local/etc/pkg.conf
