Senior Network Engineer - UNIX System Administrator

Our suite of Web-native applications provides customers significant advantages over server-based software in reliability, support, ease-of-use, scalability, rapid product innovation and predictable cost structures. 

Atomz is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to be responsible for network design, administration, uptime, performance, security, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of network protocol behavior as well as wired and wireless experience. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  a.. Designing networks and system solutions based on requests and needs 
  b.. Participation and design for network performance and device type selection to match criteria of network needs 
  c.. Develop network designs, policies, solutions and recommendations 
  d.. Identify, research, evaluate and recommend network related tools and emerging network technologies 
  e.. Participate in rotating "on call" schedule with other members of the team; be willing to carry a pager 
  f.. Responding to outages both during business hours and in an after-hours on-call capacity 
  g.. Producing documentation for use in configuration, repair and troubleshooting of hardware, software and network operating systems 
  h.. Troubleshooting and resolution of system problems
Required Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience 

  a.. Experience with FreeBSD 4.7, 5.3 Administration and tuning 
  b.. Experience with the following UNIX Software: Apache, RequestTracker, BIND and postfix 
  c.. In-depth knowledge of the following programming languages: C, Perl, Bourne Shell, Expect 
  d.. Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco Routers, Switches and Firewalls 
  e.. Excellent knowledge of networking technology such as IPSec, PPTP, BGP, HSRP and Multicast 
  f.. In-depth experience with networking tools such as ping, traceroute, RRDtool and Nagios 
  g.. Broad understanding of i386 hardware diagnostics and repair
