QA Architect in Palo Alto, CA

Solidcore Systems, Inc. www.solidcore.com a privately held, venture
funded, enterprise software company based in Palo Alto, CA., is seeking
a QA Architect who will be responsible for defining the QA strategy for
Solidcore's product lines and the acceptance criteria for the product
deliverables. 

Duties/Responsibilities of Position: 

    o Analyze product requirements specifications, functional specifications
      and prepare a detailed functional test specification to be executed by
      the QA organization. 
    o Prepare a detailed capability matrix to map capabilities to functional
      requirements to the test plan, for defining the acceptance criteria and
      ensuring comprehensive test coverage. 
    o Independently design and document detailed performance test cases to
      cover all levels of test, including: performance, and scalability
      under load/stress. 
    o Effectively employ automation to reduce testing cycles on repeated
      tasks. 
    o Analyze reported defects to assess severity and prioritize them for
      development to fix. 
    o Interact with software developers to tune code and track all problem
      reports to closure.
    o Assist with the QA project planning process including manpower
      estimation. 
    o Assist with setting directions and monitoring for other project QA
      Engineers. 

Position Specific Competencies/Skills Required: 

    o Demonstrated ability to successfully plan and execute effective end to
      end product testing, on time. 
    o Hands-on experience with programming/scripting.
    o Experience with multiple OS platforms (Windows, Solaris, Linux, HP-UX,
      AIX), Web Server/Application Servers, SQL databases, testing tools
      (scripting languages, Rational Robot, LoadRunner, Silk, etc.), and
      client/server or web applications. 
    o Success in implementing automated testing (through API testing, GUI
      automation, web scalability and stress testing, code coverage,
      performance testing, etc.). 
    o History of team participation with development staff in
      requirements/design validation activities. 
    o Sound knowledge of software development lifecycle. 
    o Excellent oral and written communication skills; including the ability
      to effectively convey issues and alternatives regardless of the
      audience level or circumstances. 
    o Effective organizational skills; ability to multi-task. 

Experience/Education Required/Desired: 

    o A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or appropriate technical
      degree (or 4 years equivalent experience) 
    o 5 - 8 years of software product development/quality assurance
      responsibilities 
    o 2 - 3 years of development and/or quality assurance lead or management
      responsibilities.
    o Strong people skills; able to positively motivate others promoting
      teamwork and resolution of issues. 
    o Experienced with a programming (such as Java) or scripting language
      (Perl, AWK, etc.)
    o Familiar with version control/configuration management systems and
      defect tracking software.
