A premier global company in Southwest Houston, TX is looking to hire a
Junior Unix Support Administrator on a contract-to-hire basis.  Local
candidates are preferred as there will be no relocation assistance or remote
work possibilities.

Job description: 

*	

	Fix broken servers (replace hard drives, replace bad sticks of RAM,
etc.
*	

	Troubleshoot hardware and software problem
*	

	Lift/carry computers and monitors
*	

	Automate system administration functions using UNIX shell scripts
*	

	Prioritize and address multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment
*	

	Test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs
*	

	Resolve support requests in a timely manner, escalating to other
team members when appropriate
*	

	Install, upgrade, and maintain software, hardware, and peripherals
*	

	Perform general system maintenance and support
*	

	Troubleshoot connectivity issues (TCP/IP, NFS/UDP, etc.)
*	

	Develop and maintain documentation or procedures and processes, as
well as, maintenance logs and equipment databases 

Job Requirements: 

*	

	Work independently and with other members of a team
*	Communicate orally and in the written form, including the ability to
document 

*	Eager to learn and grow their career 

*	Must be able to work well in an unpredictable environment and be
able to effectively adjust priorities and focus as requirements shift in a
dynamic environment 

*	Must be able to document procedures and processes and keep that
documentation up to date, as well as communicate clearly and effectively in
both written and verbal formats 

*	Prefer one year UNIX experience, but not required
