SRI International's Engineering & Systems Division, the Institute's 
largest group, is a multidisciplinary engineering organization dedicated 
to development and application of operationally effective systems. We 
perform a variety of engineering research, systems engineering, testing, 
and integration services for commercial and government clients 
worldwide. Clients include the Department of Defense (U.S. Army, Air 
Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Joint Services), the Department of 
Transportation, local government agencies, and domestic and 
international commercial companies.

SRI is interested in hiring talented individuals to become part of our 
IT Services team in SRI's Menlo Park office. You will support 
development of complex, cutting-edge systems and a wide range of 
projects as part of SRI's Engineering and Systems Division / Software 
Engineering Program (SWEP - http://www.sri.com/esd/swep/).
IT Services tasks performed in the Menlo Park office may include, but 
are not limited to:

-- help diagnose system issues, including isolation of hardware/software 
problems;
-- diagnose and fix system networking issues;
-- install and configure managed switches;
-- reconfigure flight test system for specific experiments;
-- support design, implementation and documentation of data archiving 
and recovery plans;
-- support implementation, maintenance and documentation of terabyte 
data storage solutions;
-- back up and manage system & data drives;
-- develop scripts to automate data transfers;
-- build & install new software releases;
-- develop automated software installers;
-- specify equipment to be procured and configure it for local or field use.
-- support implementation of custom inventory tracking systems;
-- track the configuration of local, flight and field systems.

Requirements

Experience:
Leading candidates will have 2.5+ years experience in design and 
implementation of information technology (IT) tools and systems. 
Successful applicants should have extensive experience in Linux system 
administration (Red Hat EL, Fedora Core), network design and 
implementation, network and general system (hardware/software) 
debugging, computer setup and configuration, scripting methods, storage 
systems, software installers, version control tools and system 
deployment methods.
At a minimum, candidates should have strong operating system experience 
with Linux and Windows. Applicants should have familiarity with Java, 
UML, XML, ANT and SQL, and be able to document IT infrastructures and 
processes clearly. Experience with software development is a plus. 
Familiarity with Solaris system administration is also a plus.

Education:
BS degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer 
science or a related area.

Other:
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and must be able to obtain and maintain 
a DoD Secret security clearance.
