Encrypted Passwords on Samba 3 w/ FreeBSD 5.3

I've just installed FreeBSD 5.3 on a PC and using the ports collection
I 've also installed Samba 3.

I've edited my smb.conf file. But I can't find doc(s) that show me how 
to use encrypted passwords! I was able to do this in Samba 2.x but that 
was then and this is now.

My clients consist of Win 2K and Win XP PCs.

My server does not have a GUI (nor will it).

Any help -- suggestions, references, How-Tos, etc., would be greatly 
appreciated.
