Some time I see that
there are packages with security
vulnerabilities, which are mostly solved by an update.

Should I switch to a newer version of python anyway or wait for
the maintainer to update the package?

I know that sometimes multiple versions of packages are installed
in order to support certain other package that are depending on a
specific version.
