No. The bug *sometimes* (not always) happens for me on FreeDOS, MSDOS and
DRDOS. This appears to change when I change autoexec.bat or config.sys. It
could well be that NDN relies on an unitialized variable somewhere.

In other words,
you found that the bug does not trigger on MSDOS and/or DRDOS
I found out that the bug does trigger on MSDOS and/or DRDOS

you found that the bug does trigger on FreeDOS
I found out that the bug does trigger in some configuration and not in
another.

If the "critical error" does not trigger, it will still pass the wrong
value of BL to check for a network device though.

It still is a bug in NDN, plain and simple.

Is the NDN source code available? Or could you ask the people who wrote it
to release a real mode version of 2.03?
