I don't see the problem in this discussion.
Isn't lilo exactly what you all want?

I mean my problem - which started this discussion - was not to get
FreeDOS together with Linux - that's easy. 
My problem was to get it together with another dos - which also turned
out to be not so hard as I thought.

So what against lilo?
