Yes, I stumbled over this bug a long time ago.
Using FD EDIT you'll have only two ways of creating those chars:
1) Not using a keyboard layout. This gives you a standard US keyboard.
Good for inserting Backslash and pipe (if you know where it is ;-)
2) Pushing left alt and entering the ASCII code of the key
ON THE KEYPAD. If you don't know it, check www.asciitable.com

Anyway, I think this bug should be solved by someone who feels able
to do so. FD Edit uses some complicated library stuff...
