Should be mentioned in the documentation Well, its probably a matter of cutting hair: POSIX uses getcwd() to return something in order to chdir() to it back so your '.' is the original one. Now, with the drive letter stuff, you have some problem, because if you omit the drive letter, you cannot simply change back and make '.' (what's a synonym of CWD, BTW :) the directory you "work in".
