Hi, I cannot try right now, but I can tell you that the DMA checking
tools that come with UMBPCI say that my UMBs are perfectly DMAable.
I have an Intel 430 VXpro chipset and 96 MB RAM, 64 of them in 4 16mb
EDO modules and 32 in one SDRAM DIMM. Kind of weird (VXpro only caches
64 MB anyway, L2-wise), but usually works fine.

(This is a reply to Barts recommendation to try booting with no drivers
at all because of possible UMBPCI DMA problems with Descent)

PS: Descent says "DPMI 0.90 CPU 4 VMM 1 P 22004k A 22004k", and
"471k conventional, 95,596k extended, 0k virtual". I have configured
Dosemu to provide 4M EMS, 48M DPMI (for djgpp...), and 4M XMS. Timer and
keyboard interrupt emulation are on, CPU level 486+487, emulated speaker and
soundblaster dsp. _X_vgaemu_memsize is 4M, _X_lfb (linear VESA framebuffer)
is on (Descent uses at most 640x400 anyway, MCGA and ModeX I think).
Video is VGA with simulated 64k of VGA BIOS. EMS frame is E000. Mouse is also
supported. Grab key is Ctrl-Alt-Home (to lock the mouse inside the window, but
works non-grabbed, too).
