Some interesting points (not listing that it contains new KDE and
OpenOffice and multimedia and stuff: It is just one of those nice
new desktop Linux distros for everybody):

NTFS (WinNT/2k/XP) cannot be resized to install Linux. Usual consequences.
Windows partitions are automatically added to the fstab and your desktop.
When you start Wine for the first time, the installer gets activated. This
means that you probably must use Wine as root one time, but the installer
is easy to use.
SuSE Linux 8.1 is certificated to follow the Linux Standards Base, so it
should be compatible to other Linuxes.

Dosemu is not preconfigured when you use SuSE Linux. Next candidate: Mandrake.

Also contains KDE 3, Mozilla, OpenOffice, ... usual cool stuff.

Mandrake also adheres to LSB and is now 100% free software (xv and Netscape
and a few others have been replaced by free software).

As with SuSE, Mandrake has grown to want 64 or 128 MB of RAM and lots of
harddisk space. If you have less, you have to live without some of the new
bells and whistles and are probably better off with an older version.

NTFS is only supported in a read-only manner.

Well, no statements made about automatic import of your Windows bookmarks
and preferences :-(. Sorry folks, no idea how well Wine and Dosemu are
integrated. Anybody who has tested it?

When in doubt, we can ask Mandrake and SuSE to make a statement over or
better improve the automated installation and integration of Wine and
Dosemu + FreeDOS. Corel Linux has shown that it can be done, but Corel
Linux was far too insecure (Dosemu ran setuid root, which is deprecated
for years and generally insecure. Other things were stupidly insecure, too).
And Corel no longer does anything with their Corel Paint for Linux, they
have handed over their Linux stuff to some other company which does not
sell Corel Paint for Linux anymore :-(.

I think that I have read some comparison of various Linux versions, and that
some - not named Corel! - did automatically integrate your Windows stuff,
at least bookmarks and wallpaper and the like. Not sure about Wine here.

You were trying to mess with the kernel. I was talking about Dosemu and
other user-level applications. At least for SuSE, there is a warning that
SuSE does use special patches, which you are asked to remove if you experience
troubles compiling new kernel modules (or better: They tell you that you can
install the default kernel instead of the SuSE kernel. Of course both are on
the CDs/DVD, including the sources).
